I think I'm gonna move to San Francisco within the next year. I'm feeling a bit of wanderlust, and now is the perfect time to make a move to somewhere I haven't lived before. I have no husband or kids or pets. I'm almost 30. Now is the time to see what else is out there. I'm thinking San Francisco because it would be close to my mom, and it's a pretty city. My other thoughts are San Diego, Phoenix or Atlanta (close to my brother).

Now, I don't want to hear about how much I would hate living in any of those places, or how expensive they are. I'm aware of these things and am willing to take that chance. If I move, it's not forever, and if I hate it after a year or two, I will go somewhere else.

However, if you have constructive advice or information, like where to live or any law firms that are hiring, give me a shout. Likewise for any encouragement.

Pick Atlanta! Then I'll be able to visit you once I'm in exile in Chapel Hill.

I have had plenty of fun travelling in Arizona, but know I'd never want to live there.

San Francisco is a great city. I've lived here almost 10 years (I'm moving to Portland later this year, but this has nothing to do with the quality of live in SF). Great culture, great food, easy access to all the natural wonders of California. My only caution is that it's not an easy city to live in if you're a single heterosexual woman (or so I'm told). I say go for it!

Meh, that's OK, I'm not into the whole dating thing anyway. That's the last of my concerns. =)

My brother lived in San Francisco for a few years (first in the Tenderloin, then in North Beach). If you have any questions, I can pass them along.

Good. I'll be in Portland in a couple of weeks if you want to get a drink, and catch up on things.

Yeah, I'd like that. When are you coming? I'll be around mostly, except next week. Definitely call me, I'll email you my number if you need it.

Not San Diego. Not unless you have a job lined up. It's true that rent is cheaper there than in SF, but SF is unionized like crazy so you get paid well no matter what job you have. I never lived as poor as I did as I did working full time in San Diego. (Ok, as a student right out of high school lived on less. But still.)

Ok, I'm a dumbass. Just re-read your post. Yeah, if you're in law then you'll probably truly get to enjoy San Diego. Shutting up now. :)

i have absolutely nothing constructive to offer, but HI!!!

need i mention that i didn't forget about you... i forgot about ALL PEOPLE AND THINGS. well, except the people in the same house as me and the ones who came over sometimes.

we moved to seatac last month (closer to ptown!!), i guess just in time for you to be cooking up plans to get even FARTHER away from us :P

so hey, well, i'm still speculating on finding a way to portland for the better part of a week, but there's still too much shit on my plate (mmm...) these days, even with no regular jobjob...

so it's been a while since that post... have you come closer to a decision on that front?

and flip me an email, phroeke@yahoo.com, for our new digitz...
